How to leave a gift to the St John Ambulance ACT in your will
If you would like to make a gift in your Will directly to support the work of St John Ambulance Australia (ACT) Inc., please contact the office directly on 02 6282 2399 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
If your will nominates St John Ambulance Australia as the beneficiary, as a general rule, St John Ambulance Australia will provide the bequest to the St John Ambulance Australia entity which you have a connection to (through, for example, any previous donations you’ve made, or news and information you’ve subscribed to.). If no connection is identified, it will be distributed to all state and territory St John Ambulance Australia entities, on a population basis.
If, however, you wish your bequest to directly fund the work of St John Ambulance Australia (ACT) Inc., and not be distributed to its all Australian entities, we recommend you include the following in your will:
“I give devise and bequeath to St John Ambulance Australia (ACT) Inc.:
(a) the whole of my Estate of whatsoever kind and wheresoever situate
(b) ………… % of my Estate
(c) and/or the sum of $ ….. free of all duties and taxes payable at my death and I declare that the receipt of the CEO or other Proper Officer for the time being of St John Ambulance Australia (ACT) Inc. shall be sufficient discharge for my trustees. It is my wish and intention that these funds be retained and used in full by St John Ambulance Australia (ACT) Inc. and not distributed to any St John Ambulance Australia state or territory entity”
Note: choices (a), (b) and (c) should be followed by the statement, “after the payment of all my just debts, funeral and testamentary expenses and all duties, taxes and charges payable on my Estate at my death.”
How will your gift be used?
For bequests directed or distributed or retained to St John Ambulance Australia (ACT) Inc. support St John in providing free first aid training to children in schools, rehabilitation, refugee and domestic violence shelters through our Community Education programs. Plus you’ll be supporting St John in providing first aid services in the local community at school fetes, community and charity events, in addition to, helping late night revellers get home safely via the Canberra NightCrew program in Civic on Friday and Saturday nights.
