Every minute counts when someone is suffering a cardiac arrest. Immediate access to an AED (automated external defibrillator) can make the difference in saving a life!
Around 30,000 Australians die from sudden cardiac arrest each year, making it Australia’s biggest killer. Many of these deaths could be prevented by having an AED within reach. If you can find and use a defibrillator within the critical 3-minute window, there is a real chance of making a full recovery.
Sudden cardiac arrest can happen at any age, often without warning. St John Ambulance ACT would love to see AEDs in every home, business and in public locations everywhere, so this life-saving equipment can be immediately accessed.
