First Responder spotlight!

“A lot of people have said we are brave heroes. In truth, we have been training for this since we decided to join St John Ambulance. We all have our part to play in the fires – this is just ours.”
Rachael, First Responder, St John Ambulance ACT

Rachael recently deployed to Bega, and also to Narooma where the team looked after 200 people inside the hall and another several hundred outside in tents and caravans in just a few days.

“People have gone through the most horrendous things – losing properties, incomes, families. If I can help them in any way, even if it’s with a panadol or a band-aid, it’s just one less problem they have to deal with that day.”
